the views really were beautiful, but in all honesty, they looked the same as they did in 2006. i guess this hike/views will last me another 6 years?? |
that's when it happened. massacreee. lindsey had a little mishap and ended up spraining both ankles, which i've actually heard is impossible. let me be the first to tell you, it is possible. all of the sudden we were at the top of ensign peak in the blazing heat of the day...and we couldn't walk down. (i've leaving out a TON of details, fyi) we called a rescue team, aka my aunt and cousin who hiked up to the top and helped up down with crutches.
perk of the peak: we did get to see the sunset, which wasn't originally planned :)
what should have taken an hour took a little over 5. i'm happy we all made it down alive, and convinced that if this would have happened anywhere else, or we didn't have a phone...someone would have found our dead bodies.

#2 "I have hiked ensign peak before...in 1996" i died laughing. i love beth.
I'm so sorry, Lindsey! Get well soon.
Although, I did enjoy this post. You two are so adventurous.
How does 1996 and 6 more years add up? Also, Kevin informs me we have hiked Ensign peak as a family since my oldest children were born. I don't know if I believe him, because I don't remember it at all.
I'm sorry, but that is just too funny. I told my whole family over dinner last night and we were laughing and laughing! Lindsey will laugh at it someday... Poor BA.
Thanks for all the concern pals....can I also add the part where all the people we passed while hiking down assumed I was some disabled girl who was trying to overcome my obstacle and not let my disability stop me from accomplishing such a daunting task. People would pass me and say things like, " you are inspiring", "way to go", and "you have almost done it". So now I will probably be mentioned in some one's testimony on Sunday and be rememebered as that girl who didn't let a trial keep her from scaling historic ensigh peak to gaze across Zion! Sorry folks, I really am just the klutz who managed to walk off a step and roll both her ankles.
