bus trips. do you remember anxiously waiting for them to post those four bus lists? i remember crossing my fingers that i would "know" at least one person on my bus. and i remember everyone rushing to the lists in the cafeteria when they would be posted, and immediately start making plans with who you would sit with...yaddah yaddah. and when you didn't get on the bus with all your other friends? the world ended. ok, not really...but still.
i will never forget this bus ride, and i giggle when i look at this picture with the scharfs and humphries. please tell me you remember sister humphries making us sing "sarasponda" on the bus. perfection.
and please tell me you remember when brother scharfs told us our next stop was going to be viagra falls. and he was serious.

trip to kirtland. priceless. i will never forget the time we had in the temple that evening, and walking outside into the rain to the rest of our group singing hymns. with a slight breeze, the temple was keeping the rain from hitting us. i remember being so impressed when someone pointed out that the temple shields us on a daily basis from the storms of the world, just as it was shielding us from the rain that night.
and i will never forget our group standing in all four corners of the temple singing The Spirit of God. unforgettable.

I am CRAVING my scrapbook right now to remember all of the other trips we took and places we got to go. the question is....if you could NOT go on one of those trips, which one would you choose. what was that?? Hannibal, MO? good answer. tom sawyers white picket fence and creepy houses to walk through. and please don't forget the freezing ferry ride that lasted 9 hours. okay, that's an exageration. i would have much rather stuck with church sites...
the trips were long. we spent countless hours on those buses, but there was something fun and exciting about it...packing up and going to see new things. but man alive did i love coming home. the jsa was home. and i loved it.
random thought. i just forgot where we did laundry. why can't i remember it?? was it in the bathrooms? and please never forget the lines for the showers. just kidding. please forget.

they had the laundry rooms on each floor, towards the large lounges....there was a staff and then a student one.

we always snuck into the facilty one, cause it had nicer machines

Along with the lines for the showers, let us please forget how they went from freezing cold to scalding hot in an instant? Good times. Again, my husband keeps looking at me like I'm nuts as I burst out laughing. Such good times.

oh the burning of flesh that happened in those showers. and remember the people that would clean the bathrooms?! i was grateful for them, but it was always a little awkward when i went to walk down the hall to go the bathroom when i woke up in the morning and that boy would be vaccuming the halls....gag.

Wouldn't one consider VIAGRA FALLS an oxymoron?

HAHAHA!! I forgot about the cleaning crew, but I did not forget about the laundry rooms because the ironing boards were attached to the wall that my head was next to, and I never woke up early except for when people would iron their clothes at 6 am and then the board would just bang constantly. Good Times!

I showered at night which is probably why my hair looked like crap every day.

Oh and one final note..."We have to go back Joseph forgot his Rogaine."

BTW Just realized what you're doing with the post titles. Very clever!! I won't tell. Promise. Hooray for Nauvoo though.

Creative. That's what you are ... spelling out Nauvoo with the different post headings. Word.

I showered at night, to avoid the lines. Of course, my roommate Jill knew that and it was her constant goal to scare me when I was alone in there late at night!

If I was going to skip a trip I think I'd skip the Lincoln sites, to be honest. I liked the Hannibal stuff, for the most part! Wait did we do that all on the same day?? It's all running together. I'd completely forgotten that ferry ride until you mentioned it.

Oh the memories. I for one, was never caught smooching in the stairway. I do remember putting my knee through our dorm window and I remember waking up on the last night with Spencer and Jarret at the foot of my bed . . . . creepy. Probably one of my funniest memories was when Karen and I were doing something in town and she was longboarding back to the JSA and couldn't stop and ran straight into a van. Or maybe I loved the fact that the Nauvoo police had it out for Jeff Bean and pulled him over like three times in one night. Has there been any mention of the CP's? So many good times in Nauvoo. I need to get out my journal. Anyway. So glad you are doing this tribute. I miss Nauvoo. We need to plan a reunion in Nauvoo.

Okay, can I just say Hannibal, MO was the BIGGEST waste of time I have ever spent over there?! Lindsay and I went this past summer after our Nauvoo trip, and we both wanted to poke our eyes out. :) I love reading about your Nauvoo times. :) It makes me happy. :)

And oh my gosh. Gregory: 5 points for your comment. That is so wise/very funny. :)

Sarasponda? How about "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean?" I remember that I was only a few rows in front of where Sis. Humphries was standing for that song and all I could do was sit there in shock...and then I joined in with the rest of the bus. Why? Because it was Nauvoo and that's the wacked out kind of thing that we all did. LOVE it.
And I'll confess along side Peter - I never once used the student laundry room. The machines were always full. But he staff laundry rooms...never a wait!

Can I say again, that we LOVE you for doing this.
